Pap Testing
If you’re between 21 and 65, receiving pap testing is recommended. Pap testing looks for abnormal changes in your cervix’s cells caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Frequency of testing is dependent on the results of current and past tests along with age.
HPV is one of the most common STDs, and it is also one of the leading causes of cervical cancer. However, if you receive an abnormal result on your pap testing and seek follow-up care, it may help prevent cervical cancer from developing. At Vida Medical Clinic, we can provide a medical referral if follow-up care is needed.
Pelvic Exam
During a pelvic exam, the nurse practitioner performs a checkup of your vagina, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and cervix for any signs of problems This is done with a gloved hand and speculum. This can assess treatable problems such as infections.
Breast Exam
During a breast exam at Vida Medical Clinic, the nurse practitioner will physically examine your breasts and feel for any lumps or abnormalities. This is an important part of early breast cancer detection. If any abnormalities are present, Vida will provide a medical referral for additional testing.
