Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services Enhances Clinical Technology, Patient Care with Grant Support

Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services recently received grant funding from the Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) through the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment to support medical clinic technology upgrades and enhancements at Vida.

Vida was able to purchase new laptops and cloud-based clinical software for its nurses and providers with the grant. These upgrades enable Vida nurses and providers to more efficiently provide care to patients, resulting in improved patient care, access to care and health outcomes. Through the grant, Vida also has the opportunity to use Updox, which is a healthcare communication platform for providers that offers HIPPA compliant texting, forms and the ability to obtain digital signatures from patients for consent to test and treat conditions.

“We are very grateful to have the opportunity for our medical director to have this new cloud-based system to efficiently sign off on patient orders and encounters, as well as the ability to read our ultrasounds remotely,” Vida Nurse Manager Heidi Weiland, RN said.

The grant also helped support technology enhancements needed for Vida’s new campus in Appleton, which the organization will move full operations to in May 2021. The new campus, located at 720 Association Dr., Appleton, more than doubles the number of exam rooms, ultrasound rooms, procedure rooms, mentoring rooms, store size and storage of material support products, as well as includes expanded lab space and a Spanish instruction classroom. The newer and better equipped facility and campus also includes easy access to Interstate 41, extensive greenspace, more parking, improved privacy and ample room for continued growth in the future.

Such technological enhancements and support could enable Vida, long term, to expand telehealth or digital technologies depending upon patient and clients needs as well as organization resources to best serve and support patients, their access to care and quality outcomes.
