Vida Medical Clinic and Support Services, a free non-profit medical clinic and support services center based in Appleton, recently purchased a new building and campus to enable the organization to expand its services and serve more people in the Fox Valley and beyond. Vida will move from its current location at 526 Wisconsin Ave., Appleton, to the new campus at 720 Association Dr., Appleton, in spring 2021.
For 37 years, Vida (formerly Mother and Unborn Baby Care and WomanKind Medical Clinic) has lifted up men and women in the Fox Valley and beyond who are facing an unplanned pregnancy, are parenting infants and young children under challenging circumstances, or who are seeking free medical care. Every year, Vida provides and serves thousands of women, men and families with its free services, including pregnancy testing; ultrasound imaging; Pap, pelvic and breast exams; STD testing and treatment for women and men; support services to pregnant women and parents of infants and young children; material support through its onsite store with free diapers, clothes, baby items, and more; and youth and young adult outreach through a one-of-a-kind sexual education and integrity program. Over the years, Vida’s programs have continued to expand and serve more people to the point that the presently leased building no longer meets the needs of the organization.
Earlier this year, Vida received a gift from the estate of a long-time friend of the organization, and the gift made it possible for Vida to purchase a new building. The newer and better equipped facility and campus includes easy access to Interstate 41, extensive greenspace, more parking, improved privacy, and ample room for continued growth in the future. Compared to Vida’s current location, the new space will double the number of exam rooms, ultrasound rooms, procedure rooms, mentoring rooms, store size, and storage of material support products, as well as include expanded lab space and a Spanish instruction classroom.
The Vida Capital Campaign: Engage. Expand. Empower. will support the build out of the medical clinic and facility upgrades to the new building, which is being transformed from a former university satellite campus to Vida’s new state-of-the-art medical clinic and support services center. Community members and other supporters are invited to donate here.
Clinic and support services operations will be moved, and the new site will open, in spring 2021. Vida will continue to operate and serve patients at its current Wisconsin Avenue location until that move.
Vida has the privilege of meeting people where they are at on their health, pregnancy or parenting journey and giving them a hand up, out of some darkness in their lives, and on a path of support, healing and hope. In the last year alone, patients and clients from more than 140 Wisconsin communities accessed and utilized services offered at Vida. Owning a newer and better equipped facility is a major milestone in Vida’s 37-year journey to lift up, encourage and serve men, women and families in the Fox Valley and beyond.
